Bestobell LNG - Applications

Through talking to customers, visiting projects and sailing on LNGC’s, at Bestobell LNG we go to great lengths to understand how and where the valves that we make are to be used. We believe it is only through an in-depth understanding of the application that we can optimise the design of our valves for what customers really want.

Bestobell LNG’s range of fire-safe cryogenic valves are used in several distinct applications in the LNG industry;

1. On LNG Cargo Carriers

Bestobell LNG now offer the complete range of cryogenic valves required on a conventional membrane or Moss Sphere design LNG cargo carrier. The valves are as follows;

• Miniature Needle Globe Valves for sampling and purging lines

• The unique patented Float Level Isolation Valve (FLIV) that isolates the secondary float level gauge mounted on the top of each tank (replacing the horizontally mounted cryogenic gate valve that was traditionally used)

• The cryogenic hydraulic motor driven throttling valves for controlling the flow of LNG during loading and unloading

• The complete range of on/off globe, lift check and swing check valves used in the LNG distribution pipework

Bestobell LNG have already supplied numerous valves to, or have orders from, all the major shipyards building LNGCC’s for the major LNG projects around the world.

2. At LNG Regasification Terminals

A wide range of globe and check valves is required in these installations, from DN15 sampling and purging valves to DN300 throttling valves for controlling tank filling.

3. At LNG satellite stations

For customers who require fire-safe valves in these installations, the Bestobell LNG range of globe and check valves are suitable. Where fire safe design is not a requirement, then the Bestobell Valves range is suitable.

At LNG Liquefaction Terminals

The Bestobell LNG range of fire-safe control globe, manual globe and check valves are suitable for use in LNG liquefaction terminals. On these sites, also from the Flow Group range of valves, Shipham Valves are used on the seawater lines and Bestobell Valves at the air separation units.
